On September 15, 2020 - Take back everything I said about the roof being in pretty good shape... OMG!
Our chateau roof is in pretty decent shape except for the bit above the ballroom. When in the loft you could see daylight and lots of the wood was rotting. All being replaced now thank goodness! We are always obsessed with the rooftops for all of the buildings. Since we’ve started, we’ve fixed the guttering on the chateau, patched up some bits that were in obvious disrepair, now this major part of the extended bit over the ballroom, the laundry roof... the next major hurdle will be the guttering around the chalet— all things you don’t notice but make a huge difference in preserving these buildings.
A less dramatic upgrade... new hot water cylinder installed in the chateau. We will soon have hot water! It is an immersion heater that is currently running off of electrics but can be connected to a boiler in the future. I think it’s a 1000 litres.

Roofers are doing a brilliant job. Doesn’t look so horrifying anymore!
