On March 29, 2021 - It wasn't until August 2020 that we were mentally prepared to try and turn on the water in the chateau. We had the right team and the right expertise. We only focused on the cold water drinking circuit. Not the one that heats the building because we aren't sure of the state of the radiators. We knew there were lead pipes and we had them removed and had the water tested soon after. It's all gone now which is a huge relief. It was terrifying because we were having a masterpiece painted on the ceiling at the same time as opening it up to the chance of leaks in the room above it. We had so many leaks. I lost track after the count was in the 20s. Our crack team has sorted them all out and we were able to install a hot water balloon (tank) which means we now have hot water in the chateau too ... but it's all turned off whilst we're not there.

Ce n'est qu'en août 2020 que nous étions mentalement prêts à essayer d'ouvrir l'eau du château. Nous avions la bonne équipe et la bonne expertise. Nous nous sommes concentrés uniquement sur le circuit d'eau potable froide. Pas celui qui chauffe le bâtiment car on n'est pas sûr de l'état des radiateurs. Nous savions qu'il y avait des tuyaux en plomb et nous les avons fait enlever et avons testé l'eau peu de temps après. Tout est parti maintenant, ce qui est un énorme soulagement. C'était terrifiant parce que nous faisions peindre un chef-d'œuvre au plafond en même temps que nous l'ouvrions au risque de fuites dans la pièce au-dessus. Nous avons eu tellement de fuites. J'ai perdu la trace après le décompte dans les années 20. Notre équipe de crack les a tous triés et nous avons pu installer un ballon d'eau chaude (réservoir), ce qui signifie que nous avons maintenant de l'eau chaude dans le château aussi ... mais tout est éteint pendant que nous ne sommes pas là.

The woodlands are perfect for a stroll and steeped in history. We love exploring the grounds and our surroundings; stretching our legs and taking in the fresh air.

On April 2, 2021 - Ah, blue skies and spring weather at our lovely chateau!
I always feel an extra bounce in my step this time of year - the longer, warmer days and miraculous blue skies always seem to come at just the right moment.
Swooning over this beautiful chateau doesn't hurt, either!
