Week of July 11, 2021

On July 12, 2021 - Nicky says that now all the fledglings have flown their nests, hedge trimming has commenced on this glorious day! Also, our grape vine is very happy! Next time Paul is at the chateau, they will have to start putting in some wires to tie it in - we're well on our way to wine ... well not immediately!

. . .

On July 14, 2021 - La Fete Nationale Francaise!

Today is Bastille Day, a national holiday in France, which celebrates the actions of a group of Frenchmen, tired of the rule of their king, who stormed a prison to get weapons and free prisoners. It marked the start of the French Revolution.

Bastille Day or Le Quatorze Juillet is a day celebrating French culture with numerous public events take place: military parades, city meals, dances, parties and many amazing fireworks. On 14 July, French people usually watch the parade on TV in the morning and then meet up for barbecues or picnics with friends and family during the day. When night falls, it's time for fireworks, concerts and dancing

On July 16, 2021 - Paul's at the Chateau today. There’s been such a mixed bag of weather… it’s made it difficult to think about the rendering of the chalet and the roof of the woodshed. And anyway, as Nicky says, the Chateau dictates the schedule… some downed trees and branches need dealing with. The Chateau definitely dictates the schedule and that's something we've certainly learned so far in this process!

. . .
